Check-in and Boarding Tips

To ensure a seamless travel experience, please take note of the following:  

Montreal departure and arrival airport is YHU in St. Hubert.  For flights departing from St. Hubert and Iqaluit (YFB), arrival to the airport is minimum 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.  Passengers checking baggage are required to be at the airport no less than 90 minutes prior to departure.  

Passengers are required to show either their flight ticket confirmation or their mobile ticket/ boarding pass if they’ve completed online check-in beforehand. 

Make sure you allocate extra time for: 

  1. Getting to the airport 
  2. Check-in counter and baggage drop-off 
  3. Completing government – mandated check-in, security, and boarding processes.   
  4. Arrive at the boarding gate at least 30 minutes prior to departure. 

All passengers (excluding infants) must present government-issued identification: 

  1. A piece of government-issued photo identification displaying the full name and date of birth. 

OR 

2. Two pieces of non-photo government-issued identification, with at least one showing the full name, date of birth and gender.  

 We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines.

Baggage

The information displayed here is accurate as of May 1, 2024.  It may change without notice. If there are fees associated with checked or carry-on baggage the fees displayed and due are in Canadian dollars (CAD).  All fees are subject to applicable taxes.

Carry-on baggage

Passengers may carry 1 personal item and 1 carry-on baggage. No fees apply to carry-on baggage, unless it does not comply with the measurement sizes or weight limitations.

Checked baggage

Passengers are permitted to check one (1)piece of checked baggage free of charge, provided it adheres to the  weight and size restrictions.

Oversized checked baggage

Bags considered oversized will be subject to a fee of: 

  • $75 CAD plus applicable taxes and fees

Additional checked baggage

Additional baggage to a maximum of 3 checked
items will be subject to following fees:

  • $50 2nd additional bag
  • $50 3rd additional
    bag

All baggage fees must be paid in full prior to boarding. Taxes and fees apply to baggage
fees.

Speciality Products and Service Charges

If you’re planning to travel with hunting equipment, sporting equipment or any other speciality item, you must contact Customer Service at 1-844-4BAFFIN, tickets@chronoaviation.com to ensure your item is permitted to check and is packed accordingly. 

Pets in the cabin or in the baggage compartment

Service animals that are assisting passengers with disabilities are permitted to fly in the cabin at no charge. The animal must remain on the floor at the passenger’s feet in a proper harness. Documents of proof will be required from the professional service animal institution that the animal is trained. You must contact Customer Service at (number and email) to register the dog prior to the flight and upon booking your flight.

Musical instruments

All musical instruments must be secured and packed for carriage as checked baggage.  If the instrument is an additional item and overweight both fees will apply, plus applicable taxes. 

Exceptions apply to small musical instruments where the items such as a violin or flute can safely be stowed under the seat in front of the passenger or in the overhead baggage compartment.  

Flight changes

Change your flight up to two hours before departure. Contact Customer Service 1-844-4BAFFIN, tickets@chronoaviation.com. A one-time change fee of $100 plus applicable taxes will be charged when you select a different date of departure unless you have selected Flex Fare. Change fees apply to name changes unless you have booked the Flex Fare.

Travelling with health concerns

Please advise Chrono Aviation 1-844-4BAFFIN, tickets@chronoaviation.com of any oxygen needs or requirements a minimum of 48 hours before travel. Without advance notice, we may not be able to accommodate your request to travel with your Portable Oxygen Concentrators.

For passengers requiring mobility assistance the following aids will be carried with no additional charge:

  • Wheelchairs
  • Walkers, canes, crutches and braces
  • Communication aids

If your mobility device requires batteries, please disclose the information while making your reservation by contacting Customer Service (1-844-4BAFFIN, tickets@chronoaviation.com).

Pets / Animal Carriage

Chrono Aviation welcomes your domesticated cat or dog in the cabin, provided it is small enough to stand, turn around and lie down in its carrier under the seat in front of you. In addition, we do require advance notice associated with a  fee of $50. CAD

If you are seated in an exit or bulkhead row you will not be able to bring your pet.  As a reminder, your pet carrier will count as the one of your carry-on items you are allowed to bring with you.  Your pet is never permitted outside its carrier and must remain under the seat in front of you. 

Emotional / Service Animals

Service animals are welcome without charge to assist the traveling passenger provided a certified written document is produced
stating that the animal has been trained by a professional service animal institution.  

Emotional support animals may also fly free of charge with documentation from a licensed mental health professional dated 12 months confirming the passenger’s need.  These animals are limited to dogs and cats only. 

Notification of 48 in advance of departure is required for any animals.

Unaccompanied Minors

When travelling alone, children between the ages 8 and 11 must be registered as an unaccompanied minor (fees apply).  No children under 8 will be permitted to travel alone.  The unaccompanied minor program is optional for children between 12 – 16.  Please contact Chrono Aviation to book the flight for a minor.  

The parent / guardian must complete all the required documents prior to the child being released into supervision by Chrono Aviation.  The parent / guardian must remain in the airport of departure until the aircraft has departed. 

A service fee of $100 plus applicable taxes must be remitted prior to boarding. 

Military

Members of the Canadian Military will have 2nd checked baggage fees waived. Presentation of card must happen at check-in. 

Compassionate reasons for Travel

Chrono Aviation will provide a discretionary travel rate to those who need to travel to attend the funeral of a loved one. Travel is required within 10 days of booking. Chrono reserves the right to request certificate of death. 

Fitness for travel

The Fitness to Travel document serves the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals during travel, specifically for those with pre-exiting medical conditions or special needs. 

This document is necessary for individuals requiring special assistance etc., to submit to ensure proper accommodations can be made to ensure safe travel. Download the document
